Sigue Sigue Sputnik frontman Martin Degville at BUT Film Festival

Former Sique Sique Sputnik-singer, Martin Degville, is one of this years main acts in the performance program. Saturday september 10th. In the 80's Degville was the frontman of Sigue Sigue Sputniks, a.k.a. 'The gods of electronic Rock & Roll'. Using many special effects in their videos and music and extravagant clothing to cover their lack of musical qualities. Their big ego's however got them a contract with EMI. Later the top-40 producers Stock Aitken and Waterman (know from Mel & Kim, Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan, Rick Astley) have tried turning Sigue Sigue Sputnik into a hitparade-band. This failed miserably.

However this history gave them a cultstatus. They are still well know among the New Wave and Gothic fans.

Since some years Martin Degville performs solo, still playing the sputnik hits. The man is a phenomenon: far in his 50's, yet still dressed in stretch- and glitter, wearing highheels. His music dance-disco-electro with a queer-edge.

Saturday september 10th he'll be playing in The Boulevard.
